Commemorate your beloved pet by transforming their ashes into a memorial reef to restore marine biodiversity - creating a lasting tribute that benefits our oceans and future generations.
We are on a mission to provide a sustainable, meaningful, and impactful alternative to conventional methods of commemorating your beloved pet, with a new tradition around death that truly honours life.
We take care of everything, so you can focus on what truly matters.
The first step begins by booking your memorial reef online. If you need any assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team, who will guide you step-by-step. You can choose any amount of ashes (within some limits) to be part of your memorial reef.
After booking your memorial reef, the first step is to safely hand over the ashes to Resting Reef.
Once we receive the ashes, we will send you a welcome email with a timeline, so you know exactly what to expect.
We will make sure your loved one travels safely to Bali, where the next step in this special journey begins.
With the help of our team and the local community, your pet’s ashes are respectfully integrated to form your memorial reef structure. Our memorial reefs are carefully designed for marine life to flourish.
The reef memorial need to cure for some weeks before we are able to placed it the ocean. We will also follow natures natural cycles of suitable weather.
We make sure you get you’ll receive regular updates throughout the entire journey. You'll also have access to our online platform, where you can view photos and videos of how the reef is doing over time.
After the reef is placed in the ocean, you will receive a certificate of completion along with a unique memento—a miniature of the reef structure. This miniature is made using the same formula the reef is made, and if you wish, a portion of your pet’s ashes.
This special memento allows you to hold a piece of the reef and your beloved pet close, while the full memorial reef rests beneath the waves, creating a lasting legacy.
We offer a profound shift in how we honour our pets by merging the tradition of memorialisation with ecological restoration. By placing these transformed, underwater “urns” in marine environments, our beloved companions give back to damaged ecosystems, becoming sanctuaries for marine life.
We align with seven of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by contributing to the enhancement of marine ecosystems and stimulating economic growth in the local communities where we operate. We are also part of the UNESCO Ocean Decade program exploring Challenge 10 – changing humanity’s relationship with the ocean.
Tianyar Bay and Tulamben Village in Northern Bali is our first memorial reef site as the area is known for its rich marine biodiversity and scenic coastlines. For decades, however, the region has faced severe damage from unsustainable fishing practices and coral mining, which have devastated local reefs and the communities that rely on them for their livelihoods. Our memorial reefs aim to not only offer a lasting tribute to beloved pets, but also bring marine ecosystems back to life while providing job opportunities for local residents.
“In my opinion the idea of making artificial reef structures in this way is really interesting and it has been a real learning experience for me.”
- Ode Mangku, local fisherman.
Together, we're committed to transforming loss to life—creating living legacies that enable new, marine life to thrive.
Dedicating a memorial reef to someone I loved very much was a beautiful way to honour and remember their life, and to know that, even after death, our loved ones can transcend as part of the cycle of life.
It makes it easier for me knowing that his ashes will be doing a really good thing.
It was a memorable experience.
